Code for Compassion Campus brings AI for impact to Bengaluru

Code for Compassion @ our Bengaluru Campus | 16/Jan/2026

On the eve of India's global AI summit, a leading global accelerator and hub launched to build AI for impact in Bangalore.

Developed by Electric Sheep and Open Paws, the Code for Compassion Campus builds on a global movement. Since its launch, the Code for  Compassion community has grown through hackathons that bring developers, designers, and sustainability and animal advocates together to build tools for planetary and animal protection. That work took a huge leap forward in India on January 16, 2026, with Code for Compassion Bengaluru, hosted by Electric Sheep in partnership with Open Paws at their all new 6000 square foot bricks and mortar Campus, the first of its kind for AI for good.

The one-day hackathon brought together 30 coders, designers, and animal advocates from across India. Participants explored applications of artificial intelligence to address animal protection challenges, including food systems, wildlife monitoring, and corporate accountability.

Teams developed a range of early-stage prototypes during the event. These included:

  • Kitchen Flip: an AI toolkit designed to support small cafés in transitioning to plant-based ingredients through recipe reformulation and nutritional analysis.

  • Offramp: an AI platform aimed at supporting plant-based dietary shifts through personalized guidance and culturally relevant food alternatives.

  • Patient Zero: a wildlife monitoring system that analyzes behavioral patterns to help identify potential zoonotic spillover risks.

  • The Watchdog: an application for tracking corporate animal welfare commitments and enabling public accountability.

  • Pack Intelligence: a platform focused on coordinating stray dog care and supporting research into canine behavior.

Participants received access to mentorship, AI models, and computing resources, allowing teams to prototype and test ideas during the one-day hackathon. Teams presented their projects at the end of the event, with several prototypes intended for further development. The projects explored applications relevant to animal protection efforts in India and other regions.

Code 4 Compassion Bengaluru represents the start of ongoing campus-based hackathons in the region and forms part of Code 4 Compassion’s broader program to support technologists applying AI to animal protection.

Commenting, Ash Singh CEO of Electric Sheep said, “This is a potentially epochal moment; our best in class facility in one of the world's greatest tech cities means coders and activists have a home to build AI that works for people, planet and animals. Over the next years we will provide those who wish to build secure compassionate AI for impact with the mentorship and investment that enables them to fly.

The journey starts here.”
