London, 10.6.2025

London, UK – 5.6.2025 – In East London, a vibrant and passionate cohort of over 60 developers, designers, and technologists gathered for twelve hours of focused collaboration at the Code for Compassion London 25 hackathon. Co-hosted by AI-for-good pioneers Electric Sheep and OpenPaws, the event brought together participants both in person and online to build ethical, impactful AI tools for the animal advocacy, food systems, and social impact sectors.

With support from partners including local hosts Animal Rising, the hackathon tackled a fresh slate of high-impact challenges sourced from NGOs, grassroots advocates, and frontline campaigners across Europe and beyond.

Under the guidance of expert mentors and mission-driven technologists from Electric Sheep and OpenPaws, participants rapidly prototyped AI-driven solutions designed to improve the lives of animals, empower activists, and democratize access to effective advocacy tools.

“We were blown away by the energy and focus in the room,” said Electric Sheep CEO Ash Singh. “London’s edition of Code for Compassion showed that when you give talented people the right kind of problems to solve—and the space to work creatively—they produce ideas that can change how we advocate, how we engage, and how we protect.”

The event also featured  an assortment of animal advocacy luminaries including Veganuary Foundar Matthew Glover and Kickstarting for Good’s David Pannell, who reflected on the potential of AI as a force multiplier for ethical causes. Mentors and judges included AI researchers, campaign strategists, and product development experts, many of whom have committed to supporting post-hackathon development and piloting of the most promising tools.

“Nothing matters more than this,’ said Isaac Llente Seguer, part of the factory farming advocacy team. “Making AI work to protect our planet’s inhabitants is the challenge of our time. I’m excited at how our work has been made possible by Electric Sheep.”

This London edition marks the next step in Electric Sheep and OpenPaws’ mission to build a global movement of AI developers committed to animal protection and systemic compassion. With future editions planned in Mumbai, Washington DC, Berlin, and Singapore, and with continued mentorship and bootcamp development under way, the Code for Compassion series is already a  cornerstone of the humane technology landscape.
